About the role
Operate, inspect, and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment for commercial HVAC systems in assigned facilities to achieve most efficient results. Assure that equipment is being maintained in a safe manner. Minimize down time through proactive performance testing and scheduled maintenance.
What you'll do
Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.
Maintain, operate, and repair HVAC systems and associated equipment, electrical distribution equipment, plumbing systems, building interior/exterior repair, and related grounds as it pertains to assigned building(s).
Inspect building HVAC and plumbing systems to ensure operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions prescribed by client.
Perform assigned repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance. Completes maintenance and repair records as required.
Respond quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
Review historical maintenance records to develop proactive inspection, testing and preventive maintenance schedule.
Operate company vehicle in a safe manner and follow prescribed routines to service locations in a timely manner.
Perform other duties as assigned.
No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. Provides informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers. Coordinates and assigns tasks to co-workers within a work unit and/or project.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of four years of related experience and/or trade school training.
Universal CFC certification preferred. Additional certification in one or more of the following: electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry or engine repair. Certifications/licenses as may be required by local or state jurisdictions.
Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor.
Basic knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situation where only limited standardization exists. Requires intermediate analytical skills.
Use personal computer and / or PDA for work order system, email, ESS and training. Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook. Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders and ability to lift / carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
Responsible for personal safety and the safety of those who are affected by your work. This includes but is not limited to:
- Finish the required and assigned Safety training at a satisfactory level
- Follow all activity policies and procedures, including all Safety-related requirements at all times
- Participate in all Safety-related programs & activities as required, including incident investigations, interviews, auditing and assessment, etc.
- Report any conditions which you feel could result in an accident or injury and / or stop work if required

• CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Building Engineer position is $65.000 annually and the maximum salary is $72,800 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
