Description:

Your responsibilities
• Develop and implement business health and safety programs and procedures for the represented Division.
• Coach and support managers and personnel into the identification, analysis and control of health and safety hazards.
• Support management with the inventory of critical task analysis and the related risk assessments.
• Develop and drive the implementation of corrective and preventive measures and effectively follow-up with senior management.
• Support all ABB HSE activities in order to ensure compliance of the operations with the applicable laws, regulations, standards and ABB’s specific requirements.
• Develop various prevention programs across represented Division to ensure consistency of the HSE management system.
• Conduct or participate in site, internal Group, Business Units or Country HSE audits.
• Coach and mentor business personnel to ensure HSE principles are considered in the execution of all activities.
• Effectively raise HSE concerns / hazards to management and operations in order to get their support and participation in problem-solving processes, as well as in performance and implementation of corrective and preventive measures.
• Facilitate meetings and coordinate the activities of the Environment, Health and Safety Committee integrating their activities in the yearly strategic plan objectives.
• Facilitate and coordinate Joint Health and Safety and Environment Committee meetings integrating their activities in the yearly strategic plan objectives.
• Foster and promote through effective communications a proactive HSE mindset towards employees through communication, involvement and participation in HSE activities.
• Prepare performance reports (leading and lagging indicators and progress towards goals, objective and action plans) on prevention programs in order to communicate the results to all internal partners.
• Implement and deliver various training programs and coordinate other HSE training and coaching sessions (e.g. task observations and feedback, inspections, spill or release prevention and control, and others).
• Continuously improve and maintain the Emergency preparedness plan and conduct appropriate drills to test its efficiency.
• Contribute to the deployment and implementation of the ABB Way and ABB Canada HSE programs.
• Benchmark, as required with other companies in similar sectors of activities in order to improve facility HSE performance.
• Share best practices with the ABB Business Units and Canada HSE team members.
• Support management with the Return to Work and Temporary Assignment programs. Manage Workers Compensation claims.
• Participate in incident investigation, reporting and follow-up in accordance with ABB incident reporting protocols.
• Maintain applicable business HSE permits. Review Federal, Provincial and local regulation changes that impact permits and permit compliance.
• Update and maintain Intelex HSE Management Information System on leading and lagging indicators
• Participate in various meetings with the ABB Business Units and Canada HSE team members, as well as to other required HSE activities.
• Knowledge of contractor safety programs and all other high risks programs such as LOTO, working at height, confined space, electrical safety, machine guarding, etc.
• Maintain efficient relationships with our internal and external partners.

Skill:

• College/University graduate in Occupational Health and Safety and/or pertinent certification or degree. • Safety Professional accreditations (CRSP CSP CIH etc.) would be a definite asset. • Excellent knowledge of national health and safety and environment legislation requirements. • Strong Knowledge of ISO 45001 COR CSA Z462 • Experience knowledge and technical capabilities in Electrical Safety and Electrical Safety Programs • Certified HSE auditing accreditation would be beneficial. • Experience working with third party Registries e.g. Cognibox

Others Requirements:

• The successful candidate shall demonstrate at least ten years of pertinent HSE experience in an industrial or electrical services environment. • Experience in Electrical Safety is required
