This position will lead the day shift Production Team for the Richmond Chemical Plant that produces process chromatography resins, liquid buffers, monomer solutions, oils, and other specialized life science products. In this role, you will be key to safely and efficiently meeting the current and future manufacturing commitments for a growing, key business for Bio-Rad.

You will be responsible for managing a crew of 4-10 people who create bulk materials on equipment, including glass- lined reactors with heating systems, tanks, wet sizing units, inline mixing systems, and various others. Your role is to ensure the safe execution of work following work procedures to produce quality products.

How You’ll Make An Impact:

Create quality product, on time and in full as scheduled, by ensuring that your team’s daily assignments, activities and performance meet established guidelines.
Manage 4-10 personnel on team providing timely feedback, setting goals, training, and conducting performance reviews; ensuring training completion and continually looking for training opportunities to improve or expand team member skills Day to day management and coordination with Warehouse, Quality Control, and Maintenance departments to meet production demands.
Use own knowledge and experience to monitor processes and troubleshoot, make adjustments to stay within schedule, budgets, and established targets and to elevate issues in a timely manner.
Identify and coordinate with other site teams to lead projects on equipment, quality and continuous improvement opportunities and workflow optimization.
Develop strong understanding of processes to provide technical guidance for production issues, address customer concerns and evaluate production recipes and procedures.
What You Bring:

Education: Bachelors Degree in engineering, chemistry, biology or related field is highly desirable, but previous supervisory experience or manufacturing experience may be considered in lieu of education.
Work Experience: 3+ years of supervisory experience in a chemical manufacturing site, preferably in a regulated environment or union environment,
Knowledge of polymer manufacturing or similar batch processing with reactors, in an ISO certified site is desirable. hazardous material handling
Proven record of working with hazardous materials in a compliance driven environment e.g. BAAQMD, OSHA, PSM, etc.
Strong computer skills including SAP or other ERP, document control, time management systems and Microsoft Office programs
A strong safety and quality mindset that can drive a culture of zero incidents and zero defects through effective communication at an individual and team level
Ability to multitask and prioritize, with minimal supervision, projects and assignments while keeping day-to-day operations running smoothly.

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $80,000 to $110,000 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
