Through our countless volunteer projects, we also help network with the communities around us, too. You can do amazing work here. Work you couldn't do anywhere else. It's up to you to make it happen.

What’s the role?
Led by Michael R. Bloomberg, a global climate champion and Special Envoy to the UN Secretary-General on Climate Ambition and Solutions, Bloomberg is tackling the climate crisis from every angle.
Bloomberg Philanthropies is at the forefront of U.S. and global efforts to fight climate change and protect the environment, bringing together mayors and other government and business leaders, grassroots partners, and environmental advocates and scientists across a key array of issues. These philanthropic and advocacy efforts are accelerating the transition from coal to clean energy, improving air quality and public health, advancing city and local climate action, protecting and preserving ocean ecosystems, and helping unlock billions of dollars in sustainable finance. At the same time, Bloomberg LP is providing the global financial community with data-driven insights, news, and analysis on climate-related issues. As a company, Bloomberg LP is also leading by example, including committing to 100% renewable energy by 2025 and taking action in the communities where its employees live and work. And through support for the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero, the Climate Finance Leadership Initiative, and other global initiatives, dedicated personnel from Bloomberg L.P. are helping to harness the power of the capital markets to address climate change and support the transition to a net-zero economy.

The Climate Finance Communications Manager will help manage communications for a portfolio of philanthropic initiatives focused on helping unlock billions of dollars in sustainable finance to support the world’s transition to net-zero emissions.
This role is responsible for successfully executing integrated, communications strategies to support cross-cutting global programs that are coordinating efforts across all sectors of the financial system to accelerate the transition to a net-zero global economy, catalyzing decarbonization across heavy-emitting sectors, developing capital market infrastructure and solutions to help address climate data challenges across the global economy, and tackling the challenge of unlocking climate finance at scale in emerging markets.
This role will engage with a wide range of key partners, including global financial institutions, multilateral development banks, national and regional governments, NGOs, technical partners, academic and research institutions, and a diverse set of internal teams across Bloomberg and Bloomberg Philanthropies.
The ideal candidate will be biased toward action, can work on fast deadlines, have the judgment to trade off priorities appropriately, and bring a proven track record of successful media engagement—specifically in the areas of climate finance and/or energy. Experience managing communications for a global coalition, alliance, or secretariat is a strong bonus.
The role will also lead the execution of the strategic communications plan – including managing day-to-day media relations and external communications – for the GFANZ Secretariat and ensuring coordination and seamless connectivity between GFANZ Secretariat team members, members of GFANZ-affiliated alliances, as well as the larger Bloomberg Philanthropies communications, social, video, and content teams. This person will also help lead on crisis communications and rapid response.
We’ll trust you to:
Serve as the primary point of contact for all incoming media inquiries and lead on collaborative work with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure timely and effective responses; relentlessly drive proactive media opportunities
Prepare and review high-quality communications materials, including one-pagers, press releases, memos, social media toolkits, presentation slides, etc.
Lead regular engagement across coalition communications counterparts and partner organizations
Work closely with GFANZ Secretariat leadership and communications to identify key messages and develop effective communication plans that engage, inform, and inspire internal and external audiences
Communicate with Bloomberg leadership, putting forth recommendations, highlighting progress towards goals, and flagging key risks
Provide workflow coordination for the environment communications team, including owning and updating internal trackers, facilitating review processes across the organization, and reporting progress to all constituencies
Media monitor in real-time, quickly flagging relevant issues and coverage with key stakeholders; establish and update crisis communication plans to swiftly address potential issues and manage the organization's reputation effectively
Provide critical support for the communications function around major live events by helping to coordinate the team, create schedules, track announcements, write and issue media alerts, manage external vendors, and more
Help manage partner agency team; assist with prioritization and streamline collaborative efforts across workstreams
You’ll need to have:
At least 10 years of experience in climate finance and/or financial policy communications
Keen understanding of how lean and nimble communications teams work, proven organizational management skills, and passion for financing the transition to net zero
Proven experience in strategic communications, media relations, and crisis communication at a financial institution, on a campaign, in government, or at a global communications agency
Comfort and understanding of domestic and international public affairs and politics as they relate to climate and the environment
Experience and capability in effectively managing simultaneous projects, prioritizing multiple tasks, and meeting (and beating) deadlines while exercising sound judgment and maintaining clear-headedness under pressure
Strong relationship-building, problem-solving, and strategic-thinking capabilities coupled with an outcome, delivery-oriented approach
Proven experience developing and executing thought leadership plans for C-suite executives and/or senior government officials
Experience working on live high-profile events and interacting with the press
Ability to act with utmost discretion, confidentiality, and diplomacy and protect confidential and sensitive information on behalf of the organization
Flexible, positive, and collaborative personality; demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in an ambiguous environment with many cross-functional teams and partners
