Overview

TRC is seeking motivated Energy Efficiency Engineers to support our operations in the California market. Your experience in the energy efficiency realm lets you provide top-notch consultative services to our governmental and commercial customers. Partnering with TRC’s Outreach and Energy Advising teams, you conduct modeling operations on the customer’s current and proposed energy usage.

Your understanding of EE principles and practices allows you to leverage your experience to develop accurate and timely reporting related to energy efficiency recommendations to the customer. Your passion and desire to reduce GHG emissions and energy consumption provide you an opportunity to affect positive change in and around the San Diego, CA area. Your understanding of the building sciences, including HVAC, Lighting, Building Controls, etc., give you the chance to support Military, Tribal, and Government offices.





**This is a contingent position. Offers for this role are based on available workload.**


Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:



Analyze facility energy use patterns to predict energy savings and carbon reductions using standard or predefined tools and methodology.
Evaluate third-party energy audits and energy efficiency technology studies.
Inspect facilities and interview facility owners/managers to validate energy efficiency measures and concerns.
Perform QA/QC activities, including conducting pre- and post-installation project inspections.
Work with outreach staff to provide technical assistance required for energy project implementation.
Determine cost-effectiveness of identified energy efficiency measures and eligibility for financial incentives based on regulatory requirements.
Identify energy efficiency technologies and energy savings studies/financial analysis to support development of deemed measures

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Energy Engineering or related field
1+ year post graduation energy efficiency experience
Previous experience with energy efficiency modeling programs or software, such as Excel, eQuest/DOE-2, Open Studio, and EnergyPlus.
Ability to write clear and concise technical reports related to energy efficiency.
Technical knowledge and understanding of building systems including mechanical systems, HVAC, refrigeration, weatherization, and water heating equipment.
Familiarity with energy efficiency technologies, equipment, and/or programs.
Highly Qualified Applicants will demonstrate:

Master’s degree in Energy Engineering or related field
Working knowledge of CA Title 24 and/or CPUC Custom Incentive Guideline
P.E. License in the state of CA or ability to obtain same
CEM Certification
Previous Energy Management implementation experience in Federal, Tribal, and/or Military facilities
Process and detail oriented individual
Ability to work effectively and professionally with other business functions
Effective communication skill set
MS Office applications for communication, analysis, documentation, and presentation
Strong MS Excel skills
