he Engineering Manager provides transformational leadership that inspires a high performing engineering group within Swagelok manufacturing operations. Results will be recognized through sustained accomplishments to quality, cost and delivery goals through the use of state-of-the-art manufacturing technology and lean principles. Dynamically leads staff to achieve the stated project deliverables in coordination with quality and manufacturing management along with other engineering groups.

Applies diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. Responsible for building, developing and holding accountable a team of supervisors, engineers, designers, technicians and other technical associates. Provides strategic direction for the department based on corporate initiatives and is responsible for building out a long-term vision of the future of manufacturing, in partnership with peers both within Operations and in Corporate teams. Interacts with multiple sites and many levels of leadership while devising new approaches to problems encountered. Responsible for assuring the appropriate technical skills, and supporting tools are present in the department to support current and future technical needs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Build a team of engineering supervisors and engineers with a wide range of skills and backgrounds to support the array of technical opportunities present.
• Partner with Operations, Quality Planning and product Engineering Managers to set an overall vision for the advancement of the manufacturing operation.
• Assist with strategic planning for functional area, establish objectives and define and prioritize key projects to support the plan.
• Coordinate with other functional supervisors and managers to plan projects and allocate resources.
• Partner with Corporate Continuous Improvement team to execute a multimillion-dollar budget focused on strategically adding capital, maintaining the health of the shop floor equipment fleet and improving the Operations by removing waste, adding automated solutions and compressing cells to improve efficiency.
• Communicate departmental project status to upper-level management (i.e. monthly reports)
Approximate # of direct reports (if applicable) – 3 to 5 engineering leaders; 50-70 technicians and engineers
Budget responsibility (if applicable) – Responsible for departmental budget ($40M-$60M)

Education:
• BS degree in a technical discipline (engineering degree preferred). Appropriate continuous education. Master’s degree or equivalent skills and experience is encouraged.
Experience:
• 10+ years of experience in leadership (may vary depending on area).

• Proven abilities in leadership including evaluating, encouraging, motivating,
disciplining and awarding others. Applies experience and knowledge at an organization level. Demonstrates the ability to complete major and complex projects and to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Advanced problem solving and significant decision-making abilities.
