Position Summary
This position is responsible for Human Resource functions and also acts as a key partner in assisting in the administration of talent management systems and related processes to deliver a workforce that will succeed in executing Cannon-Muskegon’s strategic objectives.
Primary Responsibilities
Work safely. Adhere to all company and regulatory EH&S policies and procedures.
Supports employees with questions regarding schedule, pay, health and welfare plans, including benefits enrollments, changes and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and benefits department. Ensures proper pay deductions occur with payroll.
Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files.
Maintains employer log of absenteeism and communicates any disciplinary action due.
Assists with documentation preparation and processing of terminations.
Tracks and communicate review cycle for hourly employees.
Supports 6S activities to include standardization of files, document retention, and document maintenance in HR area.
Files documents into appropriate employee files.
Assists or prepares correspondence as requested.
Prepares new-employee files.
Assists in tracking time & attendance for hourly work force.
Assists in coordinating employment activities including the selection, hiring, and orientation of hourly personnel.
Assists with the administration and application of company policies and procedures.
Maintains benefits records and associate employee data.
Maintains company bulletin boards – post announcements, bids, etc
Assists in the management of workers’ compensation claims including related services such as disability management, claims processing, and loss prevention.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience
Four-year degree in Human Resource Management, Business, or a related field of study or Two-year degree in Human Resource Management, Business, or a related field of study and a minimum of two (2) years practical experience in a field directly related to human resource administration.
Other Qualifications
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees within the organization.
Effectively demonstrate good judgment and impartiality.
Must be capable of accepting and exercising a high level of responsibility in keeping and maintaining confidential and sensitive information.
Must be literate in Human Resource Information systems.
Teaching and training skills to develop and make effective presentations.
Basic competency is MS Word and Excel.
Excellent communication skills.
This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)). To be qualified to work in this facility, a successful applicant must be a U.S. Person, as defined in those regulations, and able to supply evidence of that qualification prior to starting work.
