About the role:

As a CBRE IP Counsel, you will provide legal counsel to various business teams, including marketing, regarding trademark matters and copyright matters.

This job is part of the Legal Services job function. They are responsible for providing legal counsel and guidance in the ordinary and special activities of the organization.


What you’ll do:

Provide legal counsel to various business teams, including marketing, regarding trademark matters and copyright matters.
Advise business teams on the selection of trademarks and work with outside counsel on reviewing global trademark clearance reports.
Work with outside counsel on managing the global trademark portfolio.
Review and investigate claims of IP infringement, including trademark infringement and copyright infringement.
Conduct legal training sessions on IP protection and assists in the preparation of training materials for the Company’s lines of business.
Advise the marketing team on publicity releases, disclaimers, sponsorship agreements, and marketing agreements.
Review and advise on legal issues related to marketing materials.
Apply general knowledge of standard principles and techniques/procedures to accomplish assigned tasks and solve routine problems.
No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. Provide informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers. May lead project teams and/or plan and supervise assignments of lower level employees.

Juris Doctorate with a minimum of 5 years of in-house or private practice experience.
Member of State Bar in good standing.
Ability to work without supervision, handle many tasks, and set priorities with excellent follow-up skills and organization.
Understanding of existing procedures and standards to solve slightly complex problems.
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively present information.
Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the IP Counsel position is $160,000 annually and the maximum salary for the IP Counsel position is $180,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
