As the Manager of the Systems Engineering Team within our Global Systems Engineering Organization, you’ll be right at the forefront of Bio-Rad's Clinical Diagnostics R&D Group – leading the design and development of clinical diagnostics products across clinical immunology, immunohematology, diabetes and molecular diagnostics platforms.
Reporting to the Systems Engineering Director, you will lead a team working on new product development projects as well as sustaining projects. You will take ownership of the systems level approach in defining concepts, system architecture, requirements and design of new products as well as design updates of on-market products. You will leverage your knowledge of engineering principles, clinical applications and implement systems engineering practices. You will influence and develop the team working on NPD and Sustaining projects to maintain the focus on delivering a best-in-class experience for our customers.
You'll also collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists, providing your technical knowledge and insights to ensure our products deliver the highest levels of quality, reliability, usability and functionality. You and your team will execute on an exciting new product roadmap to support our ambitious clinical diagnostics strategy to drive long term growth for the company.
How You'll Make An Impact:
Execute on a multi-year functional plan for the systems engineering team, aligned with overall R&D and engineering functional strategies to support the clinical diagnostics product roadmap.
Build upon the existing engineering capability in the areas of Systems Architecture, System Design & Integration, Requirements Management, Configuration Management, Human Factors, Risk Management, Robustness and Reliability, Design for Six Sigma, Modeling, Analysis and Simulation.
Deliver functional excellence to all approved NPD and sustaining programs by identifying, and developing core team members that would represent multiple disciplines of engineering and/or broader R&D on the project core teams.
Challenge and support core team members to ensure highest level of systems engineering rigor is delivered to every project team.
Implement functional management processes and tools to monitor progress of engineering deliverables to all teams across the portfolio.
What You Bring:
Education: MS (or equivalent experience) in Electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical or other relevant engineering disciplines. PhD or MBA, a plus.
Work Experience: 3 years of demonstrated experience of managing and growing successful engineering teams that have delivered on new product introductions with emphasis on system architecture, system modeling & analysis, requirements management and systems led product development.
Full product development cycle experience and at least 8 years of experience in systems led design and development of complex integrated solutions comprising of hardware, software & assays in the life sciences / diagnostics industry (or equivalent experience in other industries) with demonstrated commercial success in the field.
5 years of experience working in a regulated industry, ideally within the clinical diagnostics field and experience with FDA and other global regulatory environments. Proven track record of technical project management.
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills including high discretion/judgment in decision making. Ability to foresee and manage risks within current projects and/or technology.
Ability to influence cross-functional partners, business units, and/or sites. Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels and proactively escalate issues to appropriate levels of management in the organization.
Ability to work and excel within a fast paced, dynamic, and changing work environment.

Compensation: The estimated annual salary for this position is $145,000 to $199,000 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
