JOB PURPOSE
This position will be responsible for the leadership and supervision of the Grievance Management Unit, encompassing the assignment and evaluation of team members' work. This role will collaborate with the Ombudsperson's office to ensure the seamless and just functioning of the organization, actively participating in the drafting of policies, procedures, and SOPs that align with the existing laws of Bangladesh. Additionally, this role serves as a vital member of the Review Team within the Safeguarding and Grievance Management Committee (SGMC) and Mediation, dedicated to upholding the organization's goals, values, and cultural ethos.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee and actively manage the comprehensive activities of the Grievance Management Unit within the Human Resource Department (HRD). Represent BRAC during hearings at the Ombudsperson office, contributing thoughtfully and maintaining a professional appearance.
Collaborate with the Ombudsperson Office by elucidating the necessary details of the Human Resource Policy and Procedure, as well as other pertinent policies and circulars. Skillfully draft policies, procedures, guidelines, and SOPs as per organizational requirements.
Participate in review hearings, providing substantive contributions to ensure due process. Scrutinize all decision-informed letters and decision sheets from the Safeguarding and Grievance Management Committee (SGMC) to uphold quality standards.
Conduct special inquiries, investigations, and cross-functional communications as needed. Convey Ombudsperson observations to the SGMC for future development and prevention of recurring issues.
Coordinate with other programs to facilitate training, workshops, and sessions. Arrange preparatory meetings with concerned programmes and departments before Ombudsperson Office hearings for enhanced performance.
Train new team members on policies, guidelines, practices, and circulars for their success. Ensure timely follow-up with the focal person of the relevant program for disciplinary actions based on 'Argent Action' directives from the Ombudsperson Office.
Oversee the execution of necessary documents related to terminations, such as termination letters, orders, investigation/monitoring reports, previous grievances, and three years' assessments, promptly handled by the team.
Ensure the accuracy of letters sent by the team to the concerned programs, inviting their presence as witnesses during Ombudsperson Office hearings. Undertake any other responsibilities entrusted by the authority.
SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Abilities to write/ edit report and conduct inquiry.
Skilled in MS Office Applications
Skilled in presenting investigation data or information to the higher management and Ombudsperson
Knowledge on legal aspects, policy and SOP drafting, sexual harassment and safeguarding-based investigations, and handling of disciplinary cases and departmental inquiries.
Knowledge on microfinance, health, education, gender, and enterprise-related work in NGO sectors.
Strong commitment in believing, practicing and promoting values for achieving organizational objectives


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Masters in any discipline from any reputed university. Candidates with LLM degrees will get preference.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 5 years of working experience in the relevant field.
