Description:

The Mechanical Project Execution Coordinator is responsible for the planning, scheduling, estimating and construction of major mechanical projects.

Provides quality planning and estimating services to enable proper vetting, assessment and execution of site projects and major projects.

Ensures project construction work is implemented in accordance with engineering design and specifications.

Provides required data for schedule and resources plans. Coordinates the execution of projects and turnarounds activities with the different parts involved.

Position Responsibilities
• Ensures project construction work is implemented in accordance with engineering design and specifications.
• Ensures appropriate hazard and risk reviews are conducted, risks are managed and all issues identified are actioned to ensure work is not subject to risk or delays.
• Ensures project change and variations are managed effectively.
• Provides the data for schedule and resource plans. Coordinates the execution of projects and turnaround activities with the different involved parties.
• Provides information and assists with purchasing in the management of the tendering and award of construction contracts.
• Provides feedback at the end of each contract on contractor performance to the appropriate sponsor.
• Reviews detailed design, purchase specifications and construction packages for compliance with statutory requirements, appropriate standards and Methanex procedures.
• Develops and maintains effective systems and procedures for managing mechanical construction activities on the Methanex USA site.
• Identifies and executes continuous improvement opportunities to minimize overall risk of harm to people, the environment or damage to facilities.
• Participates in all turnaround case reviews.
• Develops and manages turnaround master action item list.
• Chairs all preparation and subcommittee team meetings.
• Monitors team performance and adjusts what is required to stay on schedule with turnaround milestones and timelines.
• Inputs data into network folders and turnaround schedules.
• Liaison with Contractors on site prior to and during turnarounds and outages.
• Participates in all daily turnaround/outage planning meetings during the turnaround/outage execution phase.
• Works closely with Project Leads throughout project lifecycles to provide relevant estimates for project execution, assistance related to bills of materials and other miscellaneous considerations related to projects.
• Evaluates and ensures accurate plans are developed for the execution of projects. Responsible for coordinating with other relevant Subject Matter Experts and/or Planners to ensure this requirement is met.
• Identifies and manages the coordination of external resource requirements when needed. Provides recommendations for peak performance of these resources.
• Initiates demand/orders for all known stock and non-stock items and reflects delivery throughout planning process.
• Initiates development of all documentation and communication requirements such as attachment certificates for permits and requirements for any notifiable work. Ensures documentation is utilized correctly.
• Assists craft personnel and leadership by providing support in the coordination of additional resources, materials and parts if scope changes during execution of work.
• Completes review of planned versus actuals for standard work plans to gauge accuracy of estimations and identify actions for continuous improvement.
• Aids Supervisors and Project Managers during execution of major maintenance, coordinating any additional requirements and update plans accordingly to reflect changes in scope as required.
• Ensures accurate contingency plans are developed to allow for efficient mobilization of resources to execute work and reduce plant risk during times of planned and unplanned plant shutdowns without extending duration of downtime.
• Assists each department with accurate budget creation with regards to the turnaround.
• Ensures turnaround budgets are created in a timely fashion to meet funding requirements and timelines.
• Monitors and provides assistance with updating BOM’s and task list in the CMMS database with changes identified by system users or as a result of plant modifications.
• Reviews the CMMS database to ensure it is complete and accurate. Updates where necessary.
• Ensures links between the CMMS and other external systems are maintained and functioning properly.
• Acts as a resource in CMMS functionality and identifies opportunities for the Maintenance Department to maximize and extend its use for maintenance efficiency.

• Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Manager.

• Networks with other Methanex sites for the mutual benefit of all sites.
• Responsible for ensuring awareness of all controlled documents relating to this position as per Document Awareness Report from Document Management Database.
• Participates in local and global teams to execute specific projects, or to foster and develop the corporate use of CMMS’s.
• Contributes to the ‘operational excellence’ for Methanex USA as an effective member of the Maintenance Department.
• Promotes a high degree of morale and spirit of motivation within the office. This includes the degree of cooperation, communication and coordination between this function and other employees.

Position Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, related field; OR equivalent work experience/combined education.
• 5+ years experience in the Petrochemical or related industry, preferably within a Chemical Manufacturing environment.
• 5+ years construction or project supervision experience.
• In depth knowledge of planning, estimating and scheduling methodology.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to prepare and present written material.
• Time management and prioritizing abilities.
• Technical and problem-solving abilities.
• Able to effectively cope with stressful situations.
• Effectiveness in leading teams.
• Competence in MS Office suite.
• Desired experience in MS Project or P6.
