Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
Actively participates in quality assurance program by completing all requirements to maintain ICANL accreditation.
Ensures equipment is readily available by coordinating preventive maintenance programs and scheduling emergency service calls in order to maintain an efficient patient schedule.
Maintains a regulatory/compliance environment by following organizational policies and procedures to ensure compliance to state, local, and federal standards and regulations.
Maintains daily patient schedule in collaboration with other staff members. Ensures correct doses of radioisotopes and pharmacologic stress agents are ordered and appropriately invoiced by communicating with approved vendors.
Maintains log of patient data and stored images by entering correct patient demographic information and archiving studies to ensure complete and accurate records are maintained.
Performs cardiac nuclear testing by following ICANL guidelines to ensure high-quality diagnostic studies are performed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Performs quality controls daily, weekly, and quarterly to the nuclear camera, hot lab equipment, and crash cart.
Prepares preliminary diagnostic reports by compiling relevant measurements and data to provide summary reports for physician review, interpretation and signature.
Provides patient instructions, answers questions relating to scheduled procedures, and obtains informed consent for the ordered testing to ensure quality care.
Recognizes and alerts the physician to abnormal patient response and studies by immediately contacting the physician to discuss and assist with appropriate next steps.
Sends diagnostic reports or copies of MPI studies when required to ensure timely communication of patient data to referring physicians.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Associate's degree in Nuclear Medicine required
Bachelor's degree preferred
Experience
Post-graduation experience in a licensed facility, performing all aspects of cardiac nuclear testing preferred
Licenses and Certifications
Certified Microbiologists-NRCM Current Nuclear license with the NRC or State of Maryland; CPR, ACLS required and
CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation Current Nuclear license with the NRC or State of Maryland; CPR, ACLS required and
Health Services\ACLS Current Nuclear license with the NRC or State of Maryland; CPR, ACLS required
