Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
Remains current in knowledge of surgical procedures and maintains standards of asepsis.
Organizes and prepares room supplies, instruments, and equipment as indicated by the physician' preference.
Assembles and inspects power and endoscopic equipment prior to use and provides physicians with appropriate instruments and equipment during surgical/endoscopic procedures.
Performs instrument, needle and sponge count with R.N. according to established procedures.
Handles specimens according to established procedures.
Cleans and re-stocks rooms as appropriate.
Assists with instrument assembly and wrapping and demonstrates proper operation of sterilizers.
Cleans instruments according to established procedures, handling instruments safely and in a proper manner while using proper protective apparel.
