Description:

The purpose of the Operations Specialist is to provide daily guidance to production workers/contractors through our Nevada, IA and Slater, IA facilities. This role is responsible for meeting our customer needs through execution of daily production, strictly follow HSE, Stewardship practices, quality, and continuous improvement methodologies that embrace Lean Manufacturing.

Accountabilities

Supervise the operation of PowerPlant clamshell seed packaging for all NA yield trials.
Supervise teams of production workers/contractors to meet daily customer goals in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Focus on shift production levels and hitting the targets set for the allotted time period
Identify, recommend and implement measures to improve production throughput, equipment performance, product quality, waste reduction and resource flow.
Assist with Continuous Improvement projects.
Supervise and actively participate in the operation of pollinating, hand harvest and machine harvest of both corn and soybeans.
Performing all tasks and behaving in a manner compliant with and in support of all safety and stewardship related company policies and practices, including completion of all required company training courses.
Assit with regular maintenance, daily calibrations, and off season equipment testing.
Assist with completion of tasks for the daily direction to contract staff
Assist with task specific training to contract staff
Effectively communicating regularly with peers and supervisors regarding the status of projects and work activities to meet deadlines.
Willingness to assist with outdoor, or other duties as assigned during the off season.

Qualifications

B.S. Degree in an engineering/agriculture/manufacturing related discipline and/or relevant experience preferred.
Spanish bilingual skills a plus
Demonstrated outstanding communication skills
Experience working with interdisciplinary teams.
A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s history
Critical knowledge

Ability to use MS Office, especially Word, Excel, Power Point and other standard office software.
Ability to learn and utilize proprietary IT systems.
Demonstrated initiative and implementation of specific, measurable performance objectives.
Experience with Power BI, SmartSheets is a plus
Critical experience

Knowledge of best practices in warehouse/manufacturing environments a must
History of implementation of continuous improvements and new innovations
