The needs of the asset owner community which includes pensions, insurance companies, endowments, family offices, sovereign wealth funds and their advisors continues to evolve. Making strategic and tactical asset allocation decisions continues to be a major focus while selecting outside managers and identifying alternative investments (private equity, private credit, hedge funds, real estate, infrastructure) to fill allocation sleeves has become an increased focus of their workflow.
Bloomberg’s Companies, Markets & Analysis team is focused on developing data and analytics that help clients refine their market outlook in support of asset allocation decisions, tie their outlook to investment selection, and research ETFs, public and private funds to meet these allocation needs.
We are looking to hire a product manager to focus on refining and managing our strategy regarding private/alternative funds with a particular focus on the perspective of the asset owner and the fund issuer. We will look to you to develop and coordinate a strategy that ensures the Terminal is delivering maximum value to this customer base in a coordinated manner with our Enterprise businesses. You will work with other internal stakeholders to ensure we are prioritizing our efforts appropriately around private funds, alternative investments private companies, and public funds and ensuring we are building product that supports entitled client data as deemed necessary as well as cross-Bloomberg interoperability including with our portfolio management solutions. You will identify what private and alternative fund data our clients require and work with our data organization to develop a strategy for procuring it including implementing an entitlement system as needed.
You will collaborate with other relevant product teams across the Core Terminal as well as with our Enterprise Products, Global Data, Data Sales and Engineering teams.
We'll trust you to:
Work with our asset owner, advisory and fund management clients, sales force, and other internal stakeholders to define and sell management on a strategy that ensures the Terminal meets the needs of these clients and supports our corresponding Enterprise Products strategy
Maintain a product roadmap which considers ROI, cost of build and time to market
Develop strong relationships with other internal stakeholders across Bloomberg
Develop metrics to measure business impact and success
Keep tabs on the competitive environment and client trends
Lead an agile development process through JIRA including drafting of stories, identifying acceptance criteria & staging incremental releases
Partner with Engineering and Data Operations to ensure deliverables are well understood and delivery achievements are met
Keep internal stakeholders advised of progress throughout the development lifecycle
Work with Marketing and Sales to promote releasable product to clients and to help build Bloomberg’s brand
You’ll need to have:
7+ years of product management or other relevant experience working with private funds and alternative assets
Proven understanding of the asset owner workflow
Prior experience or knowledge of financial markets across multiple asset classes within private markets and alternatives
Experience working with public and private fund data and analysis (hedge funds, private equity, private credit, SMAs) and other alternatives including real estate and infrastructure
Understanding of the general partner / limited partner relationship regarding private funds and alternatives
We’d love to see:
Ability to think strategically & break strategy into tactical deliverables with near term value
Existing relationships with asset owners as well as public and/or private fund management companies
Understanding virtual deal room, investor relations workflows & competitive landscape
Understanding the process of institutional co-investing
Knowledge of fund performance analytics against a custom benchmark
Working knowledge of Bloomberg & other software servicing Asset Owner workflow
A detailed understanding of the competitive landscape
Record of collaborating across multiple team’s while being a leader for the business
Ability to communication effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
Experience in product management, strong organizational skills, and an ability to connect multiple threads of work

Salary Range: 140,000 - 295,000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus
The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
