Location Profile:
Located in Kent Washington, Protective Coatings Inc. is a leading provider of full service finishing for the aerospace, electronics and medical industries in both commercial and defense applications. Services include but are not limited to non-destructive testing such as fluorescent penetrant and magnetic particle inspection and a wide variety of surface enhancement processes such as shot peening and abrasive blasting, passivation, cadmium and nickel zinc plating, chromic, sulfuric and boric sulfuric acid anodizing and the application of chromate conversion coating on ferrous and non-ferrous alloys. Organic coating includes the application and testing of multiple resin systems such as epoxies, phenolics, polyurethanes, polyesters, elastomerics, intumescents, lacquers, alkyds, acrylics, dry-film lubricants, powder coatings and Teflon. Current approvals include the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program, (NADCAP), Boeing Commercial Aircraft Company, Boeing Defense and Space, Boeing/Philadelphia, Boeing Long Beach, Grumman, Gulfstream, Lockheed Martin, Goodrich, Bombardier, Cessna and Sikorsky among much else.

Founded in 1976, Protective Coatings Inc. was later acquired by Precision Castparts in 2012, and became part of the Aerostructures Division. As a defense contractor Protective Coatings Inc. is registered with the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls as a subsidiary of Precision Castparts Corp and is fully compliant with all relevant facets of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and the Export Administration Regulations.


Position Summary:
Level 2 Production Planner candidates will be expected to perform a thorough contract review process of received orders in order to: 1) determine process capability, 2) resolve any processing conflicts resulting from customer purchase orders or received part conditions, and 3) plan accordingly for supplemental processing requirements. Level 2 Production Planners will plan orders of both aluminum and steel alloy aerospace parts, and will be expected to proofread and approve newly planned or edited routings performed by other production planners. Production planners at this level shall have an understanding of received part surface conditions, specific machined dimensional tolerances, and material and heat treatment designations in order to properly plan supplementary or uniquely defined processing. Level 2 Production Planners will also be expected to follow through on customer communications to immediately resolve purchase order conflicts in processing and/or missing or incorrect information, and provide feedback to the applicable departments of special requirements in processing or the availability of specific materials. Candidates must be self-disciplined and self-motivated individuals with strong accountability (attention to details) skills. Other responsibilities will include maintaining a clean and organized work area, as well as adherence to organization safety rules and regulations.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
• Maintaining regular and punctual attendance according to shift-times or a pre-arranged work schedule.
• Follow all policies, procedures, and work instructions.
• Wear and maintain proper personal equipment (PPE).
• Proofreading and validation of newly created or edited routings performed by other Production Planners.
• Creation of routings for both aluminum alloy and steel/ferrous alloy parts using coded planning templates, customer PO requirements, provided drawings or sketches, processing specifications, and any other resources available.
• Navigation of the production planning system plan review steps for entry and/or verification of required processing information.
• Create planning for multi-quantity orders.
• Assigning work center designations to associated processing operations.
• Perform advanced contract review of received customer orders verifying received parts’ condition, availability of required processing items, dimensional and surface finish conditions and requirements, heat treatment conditions, material verification, and processing compliance to specification and drawing, just to name a few.
• Verifying completeness and accuracy of customer provided purchase orders, screening for typographical errors, inaccuracies, and omissions.
• Create (electronic) part marking technique cards for relevant orders.
• Acquire POCs (purchase order changes) from customers when necessary.
• Electronic scanning of company records (customer PO’s/POC’s).
• Follow PCI Scheduling Filter to plan jobs in the production facility according to the PCI WIP (Work in Progress) schedule, or as directed by supervision.
• Identify special processing requirements of orders and indicate as such using identification tags (i.e. traceability requirements, time limit scenarios, ITAR restrictions).
• Filing of customer related documents, numerical and alphabetical, such as customer purchase orders, work order shop travelers, and customer invoices.
• Screening documents for typographical errors ensuring documents are legible and readable.
• May perform some Receiving functions (data input of customer received orders, scanning of PO’s).
• May operate pallet jack, wheeled carts, or dollies for the transport of production orders.

• Advance blueprint reading of aerospace and military detail parts and assemblies (drawings, parts lists, sketches, supplemental documents, etc.) for the purposes of identifying critical dimensional tolerances, surface finish requirements, and required masking of part features for finish process.
• Good communicator with ability to represent the company in a positive manner.
• Ability to work alone or as a member of a team, good cooperative skills.

Required Experience:

• Experience relative to (1) year minimum specific to functions of the Production Planning department as a Level 1 Production Planner.

Level of Education:

• General Standard education including the ability to read and write in English.

Available Shifts:

• Day Shift (Monday to Friday from 6am to 2:30pm)

• Swing Shift (Monday to Friday from 2pm to 10:30pm)
