Description:

CHS has an exciting opportunity at our Oil Refinery facility in Laurel, Montana. We are looking for a Refinery Welder (Union) responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance of all processes and equipment under the control of the Refinery Maintenance Department. You must be a mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, results-driven individual with a commitment to safety, quality, accuracy, and the ability to organize and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work in both a team environment and on self-directed tasks are essential.

Responsibilities
Follow isometric drawings, sketches, or plans for information pertaining to materials required, dimensions of the structure, and pipe to be fabricated.
Mark, cut, shape, and assemble materials to prescribed measurements.
Set up equipment, weld, cut, and fit up piping, fittings, and structural steel in all positions to complete assigned duties.
Perform welding operations to meet welding procedure specifications (WPS) in an efficient manner.
Ensure that welds can pass radiography and ultrasonic test requirements in accordance with ASME Codes.
Maintain a clean shop and work area.
Perform other duties needed or assigned.
Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.

Minimum Qualifications (required)
Associate degree in welding or three to five years of practical experience in pipe and/or vessel welding.
High School Diploma
Ability to pass 6G, Monster coupon test with 6010 root/7018 fill and cap.
Able to wear personal protective equipment including a respirator.


Additional Qualifications
Ability to weld in MIG and TIG
Computer experience with Windows-based programs preferred.


Physical Requirements
Climb ladders and stairways to perform duties to heights of up to 200 feet.
Perform work in confined areas/spaces.
Perform work while wearing a self-contained breathing apparatus.
Open and close valves on piping.
Lift and/or carry portable fire extinguishers weighing up to 40 pounds.
