This is a senior leadership position within the Legal & Integrity function and will be responsible for ensuring exemplary legal support for the ABB Electrification Business Area in the Americas region. The RGC will perform a dual role as Corporate Counsel for ABB companies operating in the US,. This role will lead a team of twenty high-performing lawyers and legal professionals across the Americas for the Electrification business.
The RGC reports to the Global GC for Electrification. Travel is required. The Ideal candidate will be based in the US.
Your responsibilities
Lead the Electrification Legal & Integrity team in the region, including resource allocation and budget management, to ensure efficiency in day-to-day legal and integrity operations,
Provide leadership, strategic advice and guidance to the EL businesses operating in the Americas on all legal and integrity matters
As Corporate Counsel for the US, provide legal support and guidance to the US Country Holding Officer in the fulfillment of all fiduciary obligations under law to ensure that ABB legal entities in the US are operating in a sound legal and regulatory framework
Ensure that the legal team delivers legal advice, support, direction and counsel to the EL business to a standard of excellence
Oversight and leadership of all EL-related government investigations
Oversight and accountability for the US Government business portfolio/program
Anticipate the needs of the EL business across Americas and proactively implement tools, processes, framework and strategic direction to support business priorities and outcomes
Selection and management of outside counsel including cost and budget management
Provide leadership during crisis management/incident response
Your background
Hold a Juris Doctor and/or LLM from a US ABA accredited law school and US Bar admission
Currently admitted to practice law in the US
Minimum 15 years’ post qualification experience in a combination of legal practice in an internationally recognized law firm and in-house with a global MNC
The ideal candidate would have strong expertise with US Government contracts, litigation experience and a strong understanding of FCPA regulations
Excellent written and spoken fluency in English and preferably one additional language from the region (French, Spanish)
Strong command of international commercial and corporation law, including working knowledge of the key international conventions as well as public procurement and antitrust law
Proven track record in leading successful teams, attracting and developing strong talent
