Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
Knowledge in one or more of the following Programs (MGA & TPA) & assumed/ceded accounting
Must have strong working knowledge of GAAP reporting fundamentals and auditing standards
Excellent working knowledge of MS Office suite of products
Solid understanding of US Property and Casualty Insurance Industry and accounting requirements
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
Excellent analytical, problem solving, customer service and oral and written communication skills
Highly proficient in MS systems such as Excel
Effective time management skills with the ability to manage priorities to meet strict deadlines
Ability to recognize a problem, develop and implement a solution, and update processes to minimize future occurrences
Over 5 years’ experience in financial accounting, reporting, planning and analysis, preferably for a P&C insurance company
This position may sit in either Rocky Hill, CT or Jersey City, NJ** (HYBRID)
In support of and in concert with the VP, US Segment Support Services produce financial reports, commentary and analysis of US
Insurance financial activities including but not limited to
Review and analysis of the monthly/quarterly MI
Quarterly MI commentary
USI Exec Board and committee meetings
Quarterly USI President’s letter and related financial analysis
Financial materials for the USI Quarterly Performance Review activities
Assist in the preparation of annual business plans and reforecasts through understanding US Insurance trends, providing input, commentary and - analysis
Assist in the development of standardized monthly and quarterly reports and analysis and liaise with the Finance Shared Services unit
Provide support on insurance and reinsurance programs including collaboration and production of premium and loss accounting, premium and loss allocation and receipt and disbursement processes
Prepare and record journal entries as required for insurance and reinsurance activities
Performs balance sheet reconciliations and analysis of financial reports and other key financial metrics
Generate various ad hoc reports / streamline processes to drive efficiency and accuracy during monthly / quarterly closes
Assists with external and internal audits
Manage quality of service delivery for financial accounting, reporting, accounting processes, regulation, governance, etc
Apply technical knowledge of US GAAP to execute financial accounting and advisory services
Participate in special projects when required to provide appropriate finance advice and guidance
