Director/Senior Director, Fitch Wire (Credit Policy Group)

New York, Chicago, Toronto (Other Fitch Office locations in North America considered on an individual basis)

Fitch Wire is a cross-sector credit research and commentary team with analysts in New York, London and Hong Kong. Our mission is to publish a high-volume credit research product focusing on timely short-form analysis on topical issues of significant interest to investors and longer form cross-sector reports on key macro-credit themes. In an average year, the Fitch Wire team publishes over 800 research notes and 60 special reports. We are a part of Fitch Ratings’ Credit Policy Group and report directly to the Chief Credit Officer.

What We Offer:

We are looking for experienced analytical candidates with a strong background in financial, credit and/or macro research. They will be responsible for Fitch Wire’s non-financial corporates coverage for the Americas. This person will work with the U.S. and Latin American corporates’ teams to execute research priorities on relevant credit themes and topical events that may affect large numbers of credits. They will also be expected to identify and execute research on key cross-sector credit themes in line with analytical priorities set by the Chief Credit Officer and Head of Fitch Wire.

We Will Count on You To:

Be a research leader in your assigned sector and region, identifying key credit topics and executing research projects. This will require building and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders including ratings groups, group credit officers, and investor development.
Partner with ratings analysts to produce regular short and longer-form credit research notes on themes and topical issues pertaining to corporate credit across all sectors in the Americas region.
Coordinate with other members of the Fitch Wire team and Credit Policy leadership to help develop and drive research themes and ideas within the wider company
Identify research gaps in our output, especially for macro-credit themes that require coordination across groups
Drive new research product innovations based on best practice within the financial industry

What You Need to Have:

Deep analytical experience with a ratings agency, research firm, sell-side or buy-side investment firm
Versatile analyst with proven credit and/or sector research background but with top-down macro experience as well. Knowledge of and experience with analyzing corporate credit would be preferred
A track record of driving research outcomes, including idea generation and product innovation within the financial industry would be preferred
Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively in a consensus culture
Ability to think laterally and work as a cross-sector/cross-geography analyst

What Would Make You Stand Out:

A deep and diverse track record of publishing financial/credit research that links macro top-down research with bottom-up credit analysis
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Samples of past research/analysis to demonstrate ability of concise analytical writing would be useful
Passion for financial research (including sell-side, buy-side, ratings agency, independent research firm) with a strong interest in research innovation
