The Senior Officer, Business Development is a business development professional who will lead the development of large, complex/strategic bids for the US Government (USG) and other institutional donors, guiding an effective, successful bid process that leverages the US office as well as other Action Against Hunger offices around the world. The incumbent will effectively work with all parts of the organization, including human resources, finance, compliance, and communications, to ensure all support services are engaged in the proposal development process. In this capacity, the incumbent may serve as the primary proposal manager or a member of the proposal team. All business development team members are responsible for working closely with all internal programmatic departments to track, research, resource, and submit high-quality bids on Action Against Hunger’s most important opportunities. The incumbent will also play a key role in supporting the organization’s knowledge management of business development and institutional donor information, such as monitoring the organizational forecasts, pipeline, and related donor trends.
Purpose: Lead and support business development strategy for institutional opportunities, guiding and coordinating pre-positioning activities and proposal development teams, ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities, high quality, and timely inputs.
Engagement: Contribute to the organization’s resource mobilization efforts as it relates to competitive funding opportunities. Manage pre-positioning efforts with key partner organizations with whom we can forge strategic partnerships and consortia. Liaises with country teams, the Horn and East Africa regional office (HEARO), and the Research and Technical teams to conduct donor mapping, analysis, and deliver high-quality and successful proposals.
Delivery: Support the Business Development team in the design of our business development strategy for USG opportunities, including leading with the input/monitoring forecast and pipeline data, developing tools and processes to improve the business development cycle, development concept notes, proposals, budgets, teaming agreements, partner due diligence, etc
