Summary
Are you passionate about safety? CHS, Inc is in search for a Senior Safety Specialist to provide expertise in our propane/ammonia businesses. This position will assist in the oversight of anhydrous ammonia & propane safety programs, provide technical support on safety matters to our employees, review and implement policies to ensure compliance of federal, state, and local regulations. This is a remote based position out of WA, MT, or ND that will be expected to travel 50%-60% for on-site visitations. Responsibilities
Coordinate compliance with all applicable Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) related requirements (federal, state, local, and company).
Implement and maintain PSM/RMP programs and ensure that regulatory requirements are met as a minimum.
Develop, lead and implement EH&S related plans, programs, policies, and procedures.
Conduct effective EH&S related training for employees, contractors, and public.
Conduct complex EH&S related audits, workplace inspections, job safety analysis, and maintain detailed recordkeeping.
Communicate EH&S related requirements and expectations to other departments and personnel to ensure regulatory compliance and a safe work environment.
Properly respond to day-to-day EH&S related issues in a timely and efficient manner., including but not limited to email and phone calls.
Keep current on all applicable EH&S related rules and regulations
Perform other responsibilities as needed or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
High School diploma or GED
4+ years of experience in Environmental, Health, and/or Safety
Additional Qualifications
Previous experience with propane and anhydrous ammonia
40 hour Hazwoper training with additional emergency response training
Travel Required
CETP certification, driving/transporting hazardous materials experience preferred
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and written
Understanding of construction practices and principles
Bachelor's degree preferred in Occupational Health, Environmental Health and Safety, or related field

Physical Requirements
Ability to climb ladders and operate equipment is needed to inspect facilities
Ability to work in dusty and adverse and changeable weather conditions
