Description:

The Amazon Camera team is seeking a highly motivated, strategic thinker with a passion for owning their business. Our mission is to enable our customers to easily discover and purchase all of their photography, vlogging, star-gazing, and home security needs. And, just as importantly, delivering an inclusive team culture centered on employee career growth, fun, and a reputation for excellence. The Senior Vendor Manager will be responsible for driving both the top and bottom-line metrics for our Security Camera category. To deliver results, this person will own strategic vendor relationships, expand product selection, negotiate vendor terms, partner with marketing and advertising to drive traffic and work with operations and instock to guarantee product availability. Ultimately, we expect the Senior VM to be a passionate customer advocate within Amazon and have a long-term, cross-functional mindset and a deep understanding of the P&L.

Key job responsibilities
Full P&L responsibility, including planning, forecasting and driving growth for the respective categories. Must be adept at understanding internal and external variables (inputs) that impact the business and how to deploy against each to attain the desired results.
o Proven record of driving strategic vendor negotiations and delivering outsized results. Comfortable representing Amazon when meeting with senior executive teams from top vendors.
o Effective at setting goals and strategic direction for the business, ensuring alignment with broader business goals and vision.
o Skilled communicator in working with Amazon partners and vendors, as well as with internal groups such as buying, site merchandising, marketing, PR, finance, operations, and retail systems to deliver innovation and a better customer experience.
o Strong in cross functional collaboration on necessary systems and processes to support business needs, including retail systems, site merchandising and in-stock.
o Adept at identifying industry trends that are relevant to customer selection and experience.

A day in the life
The Senior Vendor Manager's day will likely include: reviewing reporting/audits for their business's metric; meeting and negotiating with vendors to drive the business and solve joint business problems, conducting regular business rhythm activities such as WBR/MBR inputs or leadership requests; problem solving with peers, finance partner, and/or other key stakeholders; work on strategic projects, category sme-ships, or key category initiatives.

About the team
This team owns the Camera business & vendor relationships including traditional cameras (ILC & Point and Shoot), Handsfree (drone & action cameras), Security (e.g. Google Nest), Film (Fuji & Polaroid instant cameras & consumables) and associated accessories. We have a mix of large, challenging head vendors (Canon, Sony) and smaller Amazon centric brands (Wyze). While the overall camera industry is 'declining' due to smart phones, there are many unique dynamics at play right now including subscription revenue models, growth of entry level and self-serve security cameras and Gen-Z interest in traditional formats (film, P&S) and vlogging.
