Role Summary
The Lead Engineer is responsible for leadership of the sub system engineers and is responsible for deliverables of Interior - IP/Console
Dimension of Function
Engineering, Research and Development (ER&D) is a growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on projects and programmes for our clients. The Lead Engineer will take ownership of a given commodity through the full product development lifecycle.
Area of Responsibility
This position is responsible for establishing, planning and running the engineering sub system meetings to ensure appropriate cross functional representation and input from all relevant areas.

Relevant Experience:
· Experience (3-10 years) in the domain of product engineering & development.
· In depth knowledge of products, development process, Tools & technologies
· Familiar with new technology developments & regulations.
Component & Sub-System Conceptualization
· Providing Inputs for Concept sketch (2D), Styling/Design, Packaging & DMU
· Preparation of Design brief Documents (Technical specification doc, Design spec)
· Study the Competitor benchmarking & Design updates.
· Part development in line with the cost, PAT & weight target
You will have responsibility for:
· Establishing the team work plan
· Team planning for project deliverables, forecast, shift planning and leaves for team & reporting it to PM in advance.
· To work on development plan to continuously improve the skill sets for self and Team
· Identify training needs for the team members based on their skill matrix
· Communicating team progress to management
· Program delivery planning and execution Concept design, Master sections, Customer alignment for Due date, forecast and resource planning
· Ensuring progress is made by following up actions with respective part owners
· Publishing minutes from each meeting
· Ensuring that the engineering sub-system delivers its objectives and targets (technical and business)
· Maintain team level open points and discuss with Counterpart / System architect and share regularly
· Ensuring that programme timing objectives are met
· Identifying all risks to the programme
· Ensuring that issues are addressed and closed off
· Ensuring that issues that cannot be resolved are escalated to Module Leader
· At the end of a program, make appropriate capitalization documents (Lessons learned, Technical Reports) to feed/improve Design and Development standards and guidelines
Responsible for Quality Audit
Knowledge / Experience
Essential:
· Responsible for detail product design according to OEM specifications, standards and guidelines.
· Translate defined product design performance criteria in CAD data & specifications
· Masters specific areas of complete Seat, Frame, Plastic, Foam and Accessories of a given technology
· Proven project management capability demonstrated by recent delivery on time & budget within a product development environment.
· Engineering knowledge of defined component(s) / system(s) design, function, performance, production & manufacturing requirements,
· Excellent communications skills, demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels,
· PC Literacy: Microsoft Project, Power Point, Excel, Word etc
· Significant experience on design of plastic products - Automotive interior trims
· Successful history of delivery within the automotive product development sector.
· Degree in relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
· Advanced knowledge of CAD software including NX
· Methodology, best practices and tooling knowledge of plastic parts
Preferred:
· Competency in CAD software - UG NX.
· Knowledge of program standards, tools and methods. like Tolerance stack, DFMEA, CAE & mold flow.
