Description:

As an Technical Product Owner, you will be responsible for performing a variety of engineering assignments and projects in support of ABB's Motion Drive Products division in New Berlin, Wisconsin.

You will be providing guidance on design, functionality, compliance and manufacturability of product offerings, introducing new products to production and sustaining and improving products through complete lifecycle. You will be performing advanced computations, analysis and electromechanical design tasks. Proactively seeks and implements initiatives to improve product quality, reduce costs and increase customer satisfaction.

Your responsibilities
Main technical product owner of assigned Drive Products either manufactured or late configured at United States New Berlin factory, responsible for product technical support, quality problem solving, product data maintenance, certification and documentation
Act as technical expert on assigned products when interfacing with Production, Supply Chain, Planning, Quality and Product Management. Use experiential knowledge to raise product and process awareness and understanding in other functional groups
Take ownership of quality improvement and cost reduction activities for responsible products via feedback from Quality, Sales and Product Management, utilizing systematic tools and process to manage production quality, supplier quality and cost
Take responsibility of product cost, coordinate with Supply Chain and other functions to cut cost through supplier localization and available material source development
Lead problem resolution activities: collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical and Reliability Engineering resources to support the technical analysis process and propose corrective actions and implementation
Help move products through final stages of New Product Development into Production and collaborate on materials, tools processes and work instructions required to assemble quality products
Develop and edit Product Configuration tools, Parts Matrixes and Material Dependencies. Maintain Bills of Material and write and implement Engineering Change Notices for product changes and improvements
Direct complex testing to validate designs, qualify critical components and verify agency compliance. Understand and be able to apply United States customs material classifications. Determine appropriate production test coverage and set test limits. Monitor production quality and first pass yield data
Your background
Bachelor’s degree in engineering with minimum 5 years of engineering work experience required
Less than 10 percent travel required
Experience with inverters (or similar power conversion equipment), enclosures designed for enhancing inverter functions and manufacturing of inverter products highly preferred
Proficient with Microsoft Excel macros, product configuration tables and tools, and bills of materials, especially in conjunction with an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning)system (SAP). Familiarity with software design tools such as AutoCAD, Creo/Solidworks, PADS (schematic capture and PCB (Printed Circuit Board) layout) highly preferred
Ability to set and monitor production test requirements. Knowledge of testing at voltages from 230-600V and a strong motivation to put safety first
Familiarity with agency requirements such as UL (Printed Circuit Board), CSA, CE, OSHPD, etc. Knowledge and ability to classify materials in compliance with United States Customs HTTS and ECCN (Project Engineering) coding preferred
Ability and confidence to make recommendations, able to gather and analyze data, present findings, and make recommendations to the local and global PE (Project Engineering) teams highly preferred
Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
