About the Group:

Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) within Independent Risk Management is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the principles articulated in Citi’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework and for specific enterprise-level risk management programs and processes that span the organization, the lines of defense and various risk categories. These include risk identification, enterprise risk analytics, risk appetite & limits, new activity risk management, risk frameworks & policy, strategic risk, and climate risk. The group is headed by the Head of ERM who reports directly to the Citigroup Chief Risk Officer (CRO).

About the Team:

As part of ERM, the Risk Appetite & Limits team is responsible for designing and driving enhancements to strengthen the firm’s approach to risk appetite and limits. The team’s book of work is constructed to deliver a clearly articulated risk appetite that is connected to firm-wide processes, cascaded within firm and that is supported by limits, thresholds and assessments that ensure a risk profile that is consistent with the firm’s defined risk appetite. The team is led by the Head of Risk Appetite & Limits who reports to the Head of ERM.

About the Role:

The current opening is for a Vice President on the Risk Appetite & Limits team, primarily focused on supporting the execution of quarterly risk appetite processes for financial risks, including risk appetite assessments, metric assessments and alignment to the firm’s top risks. This position will also support the execution and closure of existing regulatory commitments through the Transformation book of work, primarily related to the firm’s enhanced limit and threshold management framework.

Key Responsibilities:

The review and challenge of periodic risk appetite and metric assessment outcomes provided by financial risk categories with consideration given to the application of ERM requirements and the quality and consistency of execution across risk categories. Identify cross-category themes and opportunities for enhancements.

With regard to regulatory commitments, assist in the preparation of closure materials including collection and assessment of artifacts. Support validation requests from various validating teams, including internal quality assurance functions and Internal Audit.

Drive the adoption of standardized controls for limit management across firm, including identification of control stakeholders, training control executors, sample testing control monitoring evidence, and identifying opportunities for control enhancements.

Qualifications:

6+ years of experience in the financial services industry, preferably with risk management experience in governance, controls, risk appetite, limit and/or escalation frameworks.

Experience in driving strategic, firmwide initiatives, including building stakeholder relationships and influencing / negotiating to achieve outcomes.

Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to deliver credible challenge.

Prior experience in supporting regulatory and internal audit exams a plus.

Good understanding of regulatory expectations and industry practices in limit management, escalation and/or related areas.

Disciplined approach to execution, focused on making decisions that propel the project forward and avoid negative surprises.

Ability to synthesize complex concepts and effectively persuade senior audiences, orally and in writing.

Ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision and exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.

Collaborative work style; effectively interacts with partners across organizational boundaries/hierarchies.


Education:

Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Masters degree
